As more and more older adults join the ‘Silver Surfer’ generation of online-enabled Internet users, so to, does the likelihood that these surfing seniors may fall prey to the pitfalls of online criminality.
As part of our on-going commitment to senior safety, the Senior Citizen Liaison team has recently began to focus some of it’s operational safety activities towards providing public safety presentations which are cyber-crime themed, in part, to satisfy the growing demand from the many enquiries that we receive at SCLT Headquarters each week for such services.
Ash Jones, a member of the SCLT Public Presentation Team, joined two groups of enthusiastic senior computer users at the BAY Community Centre in Burnham-on-Sea in the UK for their weekly computer skills workshop.
During his visit, Ash joined two classes to give a safety presentation themed on cyber-crime, as well as throwing in the usual tips on doorstep and general safety before distributing copies of the latest edition of the Senior Siren Magazine.
Ash said, “I’ve had a great day, meeting the many users of this wonderful community centre in the beautiful seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea. I hope my presentation will give confidence to the members of this group and they have many happy times surfing the wonders of the Internet”
If your community group would like to arrange a presentation from a member of the SCLT, please get in touch via the contact tab at the top of this page.
