1st October is International Older People's Day

On 14 December 1990, the United Nations General Assembly designated 1st October the International Day of Older Persons. Since this time events have been arranged by the international community to reflect the importance of the older adult community and particularly, to embrace the huge value of the contribution made to the world by the senior population.

In keeping with this mandate, the Senior Citizen Liaison Team will be out and about on Older People's Day, joining seniors in the community. We are also taking advantage of the big day to lauch the very latest edition of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine (edition 15), which will be available to download on this site from the 1st October, as well as being distributed by our army of volunteers in the community in its hard-copy format (for the less computer literate).

Throughout the United Kingdom and many other participating countries, there will be many local events taking place which place the senior community at their heart.
