SCLT Fully Engaged in National Rogue Trader Week 2014
Monday 7th April saw the commencement of National Rogue Trader Week for all UK law enforcement agencies and their associated partners. The theme of this year's operation was crime prevention and education, so much of the activity was focused upon engageing with the senior community to communicate tips and advice on avoiding rogue trading and other types of doorstep crime.
Volunteers from the SCLT joined police officers at events such as coffee mornings and community centres to pass on our specialist knowledge of senior safety and crime prevention for the older adult community. In addition, thousands of the latest edition of the Senior Siren magazine were made available to the police and were distributed at a number of events and operations throughout the United Kingdom.
SCLT Volunteer Mike Wedlock said, "Rogue Trader Week is probably the highest profile activity in the annual calender for senior-themed crime, and we have been delighted to fully support the police activities and to use the week to reach-out to many seniors, that we have not meet previously"
"Although the week has been very busy, every week is rogue trader week for the SCLT, and we are busier than ever with our Public Presentation Team getting out and about every week to give crime-busting talks to dozens of older adult groups in the community. There is always time to book a presentation, so please visit the contact page on our website and book a visit for your group today"
