Public Presentation Team Visit West Huntspill (Somerset, UK)

Thursday 18th June saw SCLT volunteer Ash Jones paying a visit to the very busy Active Living Group who meet weekly at Baillol Hall in West Huntspill (Somerset, UK). The group meet every week in the pleasant surroundings of the Church Hall and are frequently entertained by a guest speaker, before sitting down to a hearty and healthy lunch.

On his visit to the vivacious group of older adults, Ash faciliated a 45-minute presentation on senior safety. The presentation was animated throughout with slide show (PowerPoint) which extolled the virtues of remaining sceptical when receiving any news that you have either won any money via a lottery, or are entitled to some form of tax or insurence rebate, as these forms of communication are often the pre-cursor to the many elaborate scams and deceptions which are targeted at the elderly.

Commenting on the content of the SCLT Senior Safet Presentation, Ash said, "The presentation is all focused around empowering our patrons to be aware of the dangers around such things as dealing with callers to their doors and we also discuss the current batch of scams that are doing the rounds in the area. The objective is that everyone who attends one of our presentations, will leave with more confidence and a lot more knowledge about senior crime than when they came in"

The presentation ended with every attendee receiveing a personal copy of the latest Senior Siren magazine.
