SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit Tickenham in North Somerset
Wednesday 13th May 2015 saw SCLT volunteer Roger Buxton making an appearance as guest speaker at the regular meeting Environmental Group of the University of the Third Age (U3A) in Taunton, at their town centre headquarters, situated in the centraly located in the Temple Methodist Church in Upper High Street in the town.
The Environmental Group meets on the second Wednesday of every month to look at all aspects of the environment, worldwide, national and local which affect today's society. The group contacted the SCLT Public Presentation Team to request a senior safety presentation due to the potential impact of a growing senior population and how this is likely to change the enviromental landscape of the future.
Following his presentation Roger commented, “The University of the Third Age (U3A) movement is a unique and exciting organisation which provides, through its U3As, life-enhancing and life-changing opportunities for retired and semi-retired people to come together and learn together, not for qualifications but for the sheer joy of discovery”
“Today's presentation was essentially a chronicle of the foundation and growth of the Senior Citizen Liaison Team and why the changing balance of the population, created the necessity for the charity's establishment and growth over the last 5-years"
Every member of the group received a personal copy of the latest edition of the award-winning magazine of the Senior Citizen Liaison Team, ‘The Senior Siren’, which now is made available to more than 250,000 readers every-other month.
