SCLT Public Presentation Team Hosted by Senior Group in Long Load in Somerset
Wednesday 29th July 2015 has seen volunteer Ash Jones of the SCLT Public Presentation Team visiting the rural, South Somerset village of Long Load to give the Ladies Seniors Group an interactive senior safety presentation on the dangers of deceptions and scams, and how to avoid becoming a victim of this growing type of crime in later life.
The energetic gathering of senior ladies meet at the village hall every month to enjoy a variety of activities, such as guest speakers, card making and even massage (which was a firm favourite with the participants). Meetings are always punctuated with laughter and plenty of light refreshments for all.
Ash Jones is the longest-serving volunteer on the Public Presentation Team, and a veteran of 100s of senior safety presentations accross the region, he said, “I have enjoyed my first ever visit to this rather pleasant village of Long Load today. The ladies of the group clearly enjoy the opportunity to share each other's company on a monthly basis and use these neetings to keep in touch with friends as well as catching up on all the local news. Such gatherings are great for encouraging social engagement for folks who may otherwise not see many visitors in their daily lives - thus making them highly vulnerable to fraudsters who use social isolation as a tool to target the vulnerable "
Every member of the audience rceived a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine, which is packed with advice and tips on staying safe into later life
