SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit Weston-s-Mare Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Wednesday 8th March, has seen SCLT volunteer Ash Jones joining the monthly meeting of the Weston super Mare Branch of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, who meet at The Campus in Worle (near Morrisons Supermarket) to share their experiences of living with the effects of Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as hearing from interesting speakers and medical professionals
The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society is the voice of people across the UK with RA and JIA (Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis). NRAS works to ensure people affected by RA/JIA have the information, tools and support to access the highest quality treatment and care, to grow their ability to self-manage and to lead full and active lives in pursuit of their individual goals.
From a Freephone Helpline (0800 298 7650) and peer support to local groups, and self-management workshops, NRAS can help. The NRAS also work closely with Rheumatology teams, other health and social care professionals, commissioners and politicians to help improve key services and policies.
Ash is a veteran volunteer on the SCLT Public Presentation Team, he said, “I have enjoyed my visit to the Weston-super-Mare branch of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, who clearly do fantastic work to help thise affected by this very debilitating condition. Everyone fully embraced the senior safety message tonight and there were many questions and shared experiences of avoiding frauds and how to stay safe in later life. "
