SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit – St Peter's Wives Group (Filton)
Monday 25th September 2017 has seen SCLT volunteer Ash Jones accepting an invitation to join the ladies of the St Peter's Wives Club at their regular monthly meeting in Filton, South Gloucestershire to deliver a keynote presentation on safe driving in one's twilight years. The group meet at St Peter's Church Hall in Filton to enjoy presentations from informative and interesting speakers on a wide range of subjects, as well as arranging outings to interesting locations and events, as well as enjoying light refreshments and catching up on local news.
At the conclusion of his visit, Ash commented, “My visit to St Peter's Wives Club has been very enjoyable and the audience seemed to get on board with the senior safe driving message. The St Peter's Wives Group is a really great club, which encourages peer interaction and ongoing, adult learning. It was heartening to field so many probing questions from the audience at the end of my presentation, which is a good sign that they were listening to what I said in the main body of the lecture”
Every member of the audience received a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine – the quarterly publication of the Senior Citizen Liaison Team, which offers crime prevention advice and a host of other lifestyle information for seniors and those who support elder family members.
Following the meeting, Mrs Janet Porter, who is the secretary of the group commented, "It was a real pleasure to host Ashley tonight as a guest speaker for our group. We found it to be a most interesting and informative talk and many of the members have asked when we can have you back for another talk. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you very much"
