SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit Bridgwater Retired Employees Assn

Thursday 1st November 2018 has seen SCLT enrichment presenter Ash Jones, accepting an invitation to join  the monthly meeting of the Bridgwater Retired Employees Association at their monthly gathering at Bridgwater Rugby Club.

As well as regular meetings, the group have a variety of social activities, guest speakers, walks, excursions, lunches and dinners - the group  puts on different events and is organised and run on a voluntary basis.

For his visit, Ash delivered the popular enrichment lecture called 'Animal Gallantry', which uses the story of the Dickin Medal, often referred to as the VC for animals, to tell the astounding stories of many animals that have gone above and beyond their instincts to protect and defend their human companions over the decades.

At the conclusion of his visit, Ash commented, “I have really enjoyed joining the folks of the Bridgwater Retired Employees Association today and delivering the emotive stories of the animals that have always been there in our times of need. I was pleased to say the audience were very brave today, as I frequently have to distribute tissues to many audiences for this lecture, as many break-down in fits of sobbing at the stories of remarkable animal sacrifice”

Every member of the audience received a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine, which is produced by the Senior Citizen Liaison Team and published quarterly online and via a local network of outlets.
