SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit Ilminster Thusday Club
Thursday 24th January 2019 has seen SCLT enrichment & safety presenter Ash Jones, accepting an invitation to join the monthly meeting of the Ilminster Club at their regular meeting at the Warehouse Theatre in Ilminster to deliver a highly informative and fully interactive presentation on the British Honours System to the 100 or so members of the Somerset community group.
The Thursday Club offer illustrated talks, interactive debate, and social events. They meet monthly to enjoy speakers on a range of interesting topics. Club outings and luncheon events are held throughout the year.
This British Honours presentation takes the audience on a journey through the British Honours System, including some of the lesser known awards and stories of some worthy recipients. We demystify how to nominate someone for an award, how the selection process works and what to expect if a letter suddenly drops on your doormat from the Cabinet Office. The presentation includes video and sound and is suitable for audiences of all ages and has been written by a veteran of the Honours System, who has successfully nominated several individuals and groups for national honours.
At the conclusion of his visit, Ash commented, “I have really enjoyed joining the gentlemen of the Ilminster Thursday Club for their regular meeting today. The audience really engaged with the subject matter and I am delighted that so many members of the group participated in our lengthy question & answer session at the conclusion of the main event”
Every member of the audience received a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine, which is produced by the Senior Citizen Liaison Team and published quarterly online and via a local network of outlets.
