SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit – Pegasus Court Retirement Group
Monday 20th May 2019 has seen SCLT volunteer Ash Jones accepting an invitation to join the regular group meeting of the Methodist Retirees Group at the residents lounge at Pegasus Court in the town of Nailsea for a rendition of the very popular enrichment presentation on animal gallantry.
Animals at War: The Dickin Medal - This delightful and often emotional presentation takes the audience on a journey through the recent history of animals at war. By useing examples of some remarkable creatures who, through extreme gallantry or devotion to duty, have been awarded the Dickin Medal - known as the Victoria Cross for animals. We are able to see what a huge contribution to human history, has been made by creatures of all kinds - from the largest to the smallest.
At the conclusion of his visit, Ash commented, “My visit to the retirees group has been very enjoyable and the audience greatly enjoyed the topic of today's presentation. It was heartening to field so many probing questions from the audience at the end of my presentation, which is a good sign that they enjoyed the content of the main body of the presentation and sought to discover more about the animals that have braved conflict alongside their human companions”
Every member of the audience received a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine – the quarterly publication of the Senior Citizen Liaison Team, which offers crime prevention advice and a host of other lifestyle information for seniors and those who support elder family members
