SCLT Public Presentation Team Visit - Abergavenny Parkinsons Group
Monday 11th February 2019 has seen SCLT enrichment & safety presenter Jon Williams, accepting an invitation to join the Abergavenny Parkinsond Disease Support Group at Marcy Park to deliver a safety presentation to the attending members.
Jon gave a fully illustrated and interactive presentation on the subject of avoiding scams and financial abuse in later life - This presentation is aimed at older adult audiences and explores the extent of the ageing population and some of the safety challenges faced by elders in society today. With a strong focus on empowerment through education, the presentation explores the dangers of doorstep crime and telephone, mail and internet (e-mail) deception-type scams. We offer tips and advice on staying safe - as well as signposting seniors to some other useful resources.
At the conclusion of his visit, Jon commented, “I have really enjoyed joining the members of the Abergavenny Parkinsond Group for their regular meeting today. The audience really engaged with the subject matter and I am delighted that so many members of the group participated in our lengthy question & answer session at the conclusion of the main event”
Every member of the audience received a personal copy of the award-winning Senior Siren magazine, which is produced by the Senior Citizen Liaison Team and published quarterly online and via a local network of outlets.
